Westside Volunteer Corps November Day of Service

MOBILIZE AND SERVE ON VETERANS DAY!
In celebration of our military veterans and active service members, Westside Volunteer Corps and The Mission Continues are joining forces to serve the Historic Westside on Veterans Day!

  • Date: Saturday, Nov. 11
  • Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
    • Serve: 9 a.m. – Noon
    • Celebrate: Noon – 3 pm.

Check out these two great opportunities to serve:

  • VINE CITY: Housing Transformation with Westside Volunteer Corps
In partnership with Joseph and Sarah Caring for Vets, volunteers will ban together to transform a historic 6-bedroom home. This space currently serves as a transitional home for veterans who have previously experienced homelessness, but are now on their way to self-sufficiency. Volunteers at this site may choose between interior and exterior projects. Inside the home, volunteers will remove all old furniture and place and assemble new furniture. Outside the home, volunteers will help with yard beatification and clean-up of surrounding areas.

PLUS: All volunteers are invited to wrap up the day with a Veterans Day Cookout to honor the community’s veterans, organized by Friends of Mattie Freeland Park! The celebration cookout will begin at noon and end at 3 p.m.

The Westside Volunteer Corps is an initiative of the Westside Future Fund, created in partnership with the United Way of Greater Atlanta and the Chick-fil-A Foundation, uniting residents, community members and business leaders who are committed to investing personally in the future of this historic community.
