Historic Renovations

220 Sunset Avenue

220 Sunset is a historic property associated with the Maynard Jackson family including Irene Dobbs-Jackson who integrated the Atlanta Public Library, Maynard Jackson Jr. the first Black mayor of Atlanta and was a temporary home of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. The King Center and Westside Future Fund saved this building from demolition in order to restore the property and ensure it's ongoing use as a community resource. Today, it serves as faculty housing for Spelman College through the Home on the Westside program and has received a historic designation on the National Register of Historic Places.

Carnegie Library

The historic English Avenue Carnegie Library quickly became a vital community resource upon its 1922 opening. As part of our ongoing mission to honor and preserve the past while investing in the future of Atlanta's historic Westside, we aim to transform the building into creative office space, fostering local business and community connections.

Yellow
Store

Redevelopment of the historic "Yellow Store" in English Avenue, once a cornerstone of Westside life, will transform the century-old building back into a vibrant community asset. The ground floor will be revitalized into two retail spaces, one for fresh food and another for soft goods, complete with a courtyard for community gathering. The upper floor will be converted into high-quality, deeply affordable apartments, continuing the building's legacy and reinforcing our commitment to community-first development.
