Honoring late Councilman Ivory Young, Jr. at 2019 Earth Day Festival

The late Councilman Ivory Young, Jr. will be honored with a ceremonial tree planting at the upcoming 2019 Vine City English Avenue Earth Day Festival Saturday, April 20, 2019.

The festival is hosted by the Sustainability Community Development Initiative for Underserved Urban City Communities, created by the National Black and Latino Council USA. The initiative launched its inaugural Earth Day Festival in 2016 spurring green community engagement and activation with strategic corporate, government, college/university, church and elementary school partners. In collaboration with sustainability-minded businesses and organizations, the initiative works to provide going green-awareness for Vine City and English Avenue residents.

The upcoming free community event will feature green sustainable vendors, free plants, vegetables, LED lights, solar panel display, green jobs, urban gardens, water conservation education, recycling programs and a brand new eco-egg hunt.
