Putting Down Roots: A Season of New Homeowners on the Historic Westside
This spring, three more families turned the key to a home of their own through Westside Future Fund’s Home on the Westside program — each of them planting permanent roots in the same English Avenue community they already know and love.
Across May and June, Trevon Williams, Nathan and Brittany Santiago, and Andrienne Brown all closed on three-bedroom, two-bath homes on the historic Westside. Their paths to ownership look different, but their stories share a common thread: people who are invested in this neighborhood, choosing to build their futures here.
A life built around service
Trevon Williams has made service the center of his life. A forensic specialist with the Fulton County Coroner’s Office and a 2024 graduate of Albany State University, Trevon spends his time outside of work volunteering with the Westside Works Food Distribution program through CHRIS 180 and serving as a positive mentor to young men in the community.
Now, as a proud first-time homeowner, he’s putting down roots in a neighborhood he’s already given so much to. “Welcome home” has rarely felt more earned.
Staying right where they built their life
For Nathan and Brittany Santiago, homeownership meant staying exactly where they were. The couple had spent years as renters in English Avenue, building a life together in the neighborhood they already called home. With their closing this spring, they made that home permanent — trading a lease for a place that’s truly their own, in the community they love.
Raising the next generation close to family
Andrienne Brown, a proud United States Postal Service employee and first-time homeowner, also closed on a home in the neighborhood she’s called home for years. For Andrienne, the move is about family: she’ll be raising her daughter just minutes from her father, who has lived in English Avenue for more than a decade. Three generations, rooted in one community — exactly where her family’s roots already run deep.

Each of these closings reflects the heart of Home on the Westside: creating real pathways to homeownership for the legacy residents and neighbors who are invested in the future of the historic Westside.
