Staying Home on English Avenue: Home on the Westside Welcomes Charles Cannon
Another neighbor has turned the key to a home of his own through Westside Future Fund’s Home on the Westside program. Charles Cannon closed on a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home in English Avenue, and he didn’t have to go far to find it.
Rooted in the neighborhood he loves
Charles already calls English Avenue home. He loves this community, and he’s committed to continuing to live in it and serve it. Too often, longtime residents are the ones priced out as a neighborhood changes. Charles’s closing is the opposite story: a neighbor who chose to stay, now with a home he owns.
Preparation that pays off
Charles got ready for this moment through Westside Future Fund’s Homebuyer Education Workshop, working with WFF Financial Coach Mercedes Settles. The workshop helps future buyers understand the process, strengthen their finances, and walk into a closing prepared. It’s the groundwork that turns a goal into a set of keys.
What Home on the Westside was built to do
Charles’s closing reflects the heart of Home on the Westside: creating real pathways to homeownership for legacy residents and the neighbors who are invested in the future of the historic Westside, and making sure they can stay and build here.
That takes partnership. Charles received $100,000 in combined down payment assistance from Westside Future Fund and our partners at Invest Atlanta and Atlanta Housing. Together, that support helped turn his aspiration into keys in hand.
To Charles, welcome home on the Westside.
