Westside Volunteer Corps October “Day of Service”

Westside Volunteer Corps October “Day of Service”

Fall is finally here, and the Westside Volunteer Corps is partnering with the Atlanta Housing Authority (AHA) to present its final Return to Community Farmers Market and Fair of the season.

Since its launch in June, the Market has provided healthy, locally‐grown foods and goods, health screenings from community caregivers, educational demonstrations and exposure, sustainability innovations, music and more—all fostering an environment and chance for University Choice Neighborhoods and other Westside residents to celebrate healthy living in their community.

This month, the Corps will add to the Market festivities by hosting a Fall Festival where families can come for fun and service.  Please join us for this unique volunteer opportunity as we help set up, facilitate and participate in the Return to Community Farmers Market.

Volunteer Shift #1 (7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.)
Calling all early birds! This first opportunity will support the set-up crew and help assemble, place and organize all vendor stations and community activities.

Additionally, volunteers will set-up the Fall Festival section of the Farmers Market. We encourage our early shift of volunteers to serve in this 3 hour time slot and then stay after to enjoy the activities, music and food.

Volunteer Capacity: 10; all ages welcome.

Volunteer Shift #2 (10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.)
Volunteers will lead activity stations at the Westside Volunteer Corps Fall Festival.

The Festival will include activities for all ages, such as Ghost Bowling, Face Painting, Pin the Spider on Its Web, Pumpkin Themed Twister and much more! In addition to the fun, all those participating in the Return to Community Farmers Market will be asked to participate in a service project: packing hygiene kits to be donated to local, nonprofit service providers. Volunteers during this shift may be asked to help run the hygiene kit station.

Volunteer Capacity: 35; ideal for ages 12 and up

Volunteer Shift #3 (12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
Can’t make our morning volunteer opportunities? This shift is for you!

Beginning at 12:30 pm, our 3rd shift of volunteers will take over leading the Westside Volunteer Corps Fall Festival. The Farmers Market will wrap up at 2 pm, and volunteers will help breakdown all the activities once the crowd clears.

Volunteer Capacity: 25; ideal for ages 12 and up
