Class Notes: Back-to-School Highlights from Hollis Innovation Academy

The Westside Future Fund is proud to support the stellar faculty, staff and students at Hollis Innovation Academy as part of its newly-announced partnership with Atlanta Public Schools! The STEM-based academy, under the leadership of principal Dr. Diamond Jack, welcomed its “CREW” of Hollis Heroes back for its second academic year on August 1!

Check out some of our favorite moments from Hollis’ eventful first week of school!

Hollis Innovation Academy first opened its doors August 3, 2016 to students of the Vine City/English Avenue community, initially servicing pre-K-5 students and adding a grade level each year until the school reaches 8th grade. This year the school welcomed its first class of 6th graders!

Hollis bestowed its first “Hollis Hero” award of the year! The honor is given monthly to faculty/staff members who have demonstrated the 6 Habits of Hollis. The “Hollis Hero H” went to Mrs. Mitchell (Marketing & Media) and Dr. Johnson (Media Specialist) for their work on the morning announcements!

Focused: Hollis 6th grader hard at work!
Lots of Collaboration & Communication in the Hollis classrooms! Students fully embracing the Habits of Hollis!
Hollis Assistant Principal Shalewa Thrash and Principal Dr. Diamond Jack are showing their Hollis Pride for the school’s first Spirit Day of the year!

Happy to have a completed a successful first week of school!
